History of the team

The birth of the stable
After Le Mans , Toyota announced its commitment to Formula 1 in 1999. Since 2001, numerous tests were performed with the TF101 piloted by Mika Salo and Allan McNish . In spring 2001, Toyota returns its technical director Andre de Cortanze , and replaces it with Gustav Brunner from the team Minardi . 2002-2004: The Beginning So Toyota makes its F1 debut in 2002 . Their pilots are always Mika Salo and Allan McNish . Taking advantage of a pileup, Mika Salo scored a point from the first Grand Prix in Melbourne. It confirms in Sepang, before a technical problem, especially at Interlagos, where he scored a second point. The result will be more difficult, despite some fine performances (5 th line in Monaco). no no hair removal reviews McNish destroyed his car and injured at Suzuka in qualifying. Toyota finished ninth tied with Minardi, both having two points. In the offseason, Toyota separates its two pilots.
In 2003 , Olivier Panis and Cristiano Da Matta holders are promoted. The TF103 marks a big change (it is directly inspired by the Ferrari F2002 that crushed the previous championship). But given the resources committed, the results are not moving much, mainly because of reliability problems. Toyota finished eighth in the championship. At the end of the season, Ove Andersson was discarded and Mike Gascoyne , from at Renault , is hired as technical director.
In early 2004, it was the big disappointment. Toyota has not progressed and remains last of the great. Mike Gascoyne who arrived too late to affect the TF104, regularly brings changes at each Grand Prix, but the performance did not take off. During the summer, the sports director Ange Pasquali and Cristiano Da Matta are returned, Ricardo Zonta replaces his compatriot, then Jarno Trulli , just arrived from Renault, arrived late in the season. Toyota finished eighth in the championship again.
2005: The rise
Ricardo Zonta at the Canadian Grand Prix 2005
In 2005 , Ralf Schumacher becomes the teammate Jarno Trulli , and the TF105 was designed entirely under the direction of Mike Gascoyne . Performance improves significantly, the first two signing Trulli of Toyota podium at Sepang and Bahrain, followed by Ralf in Barcelona. At Indianapolis, Ralf Schumacher is an accident that will cause the withdrawal of 14 cars with tires Michelin , while Trulli had signed the first pole for Toyota. Ralf will sign a final podium in Budapest, will lead in the rain at Spa, and tria laser hair removal sign pole at Suzuka. Toyota finished fourth in the championship and is progressing so far in the hierarchy.
2006-2007: The slight decline
Jarno Trulli at the Grand Prix of the United States 2006
In 2006 , while Toyota goes to tires Bridgestone is the big disappointment, because the TF106 is not efficient. The first races are disastrous, and only a hecatomb allows Ralf Schumacher to the podium in Melbourne. Mike Gascoyne is returned. The arrival of a TF106B in Monaco, and the progress of Bridgestone tires during the summer, makes some progress, but there will be no other podium. Toyota finished sixth with 35 points. In 2007 , Pascal Vasselon, formerly of Michelin , becoming the technical director. The TF107 was an evolution of its predecessor and its aerodynamics seems woefully inadequate. Performance is average, the best result was sixth place in the race. Toyota is the sixth in the championship with 13 points.
2008-2009: renewal, then start
Timo Glock at the Italian Grand Prix 2008
Jarno Trulli at Toyota USA the German Grand Prix 2009
In 2008 , the team split from Ralf Schumacher , very disappointing in 2007. It is replaced by the German champion of 2007 GP2 , Timo Glock . The TF108 is competitive, and sign two podiums ( in France , with Jarno Trulli in Hungary with Timo Glock ). Toyota finished fifth with 56 points. In late 2008, due to the economic crisis, several Japanese manufacturers (Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Mitsubishi) have withdrawn their discipline. The new CEO said that Toyota will do the same if he does not win in 2009. From the beginning of the season, the TF109 looks very powerful, it has a significant aerodynamic advantage with the double diffuser. In Melbourne, despite a disqualification on Saturday, the Toyota finished third (Trulli) and fourth (Glock), Toyota joins only second in the constructors’ championship. In Malaysia, Japanese cars are again the third and fourth but the order was reversed pilots. In Bahrain, the two Toyota are at the forefront, leading the early running but does not confirm finally, Glock and Trulli finishing third in the seventh. At Spa, Trulli missed another opportunity to win: he qualified first line but dropped to 21 th round (brake problems) when it was last due to a problem at the booth. Glock finished on the podium in Singapore, as Trulli at Suzuka. The accident at the German allows the Japanese in Japan Kamui Kobayashi to make thunderous debut in Brazil and Abu Dhabi, winning by three points obtained on the circuit UAE. The five items included by Toyota will be his last. Despite a fine season (fifth in the constructors’ championship with 59.5 points), the Japanese team withdrew from Formula 1 on November 4 2009 .
